Water Challenge

Warning: this post has absolutely nothing to do with me dumping a bucket of water on my head (as fun as that does sound…)

This is a different type of water challenge.

There’s three beverages I consume daily: one: black coffee (in order to function properly) two: milk (the perfect compliment to all the cookies I eat) and three: water…lots and lots of water.

Growing up, I always hated sugary drinks…except for yoohoo. I wanted to like soda because all the cool kids did, but (thankfully) I could never bring myself to enjoy this bubbly beverage. So I stuck to milk and water (and yoohoo).

Now being an adult(ish), I find that I still have these drinking habits.  Except for the yoohoo part…it’s been replaced by wine.  Milk keeps me strong, water keeps me hydrated and wine keeps me sane.

Constantly on the go, it can be hard to make sure you’re consuming water all day long. Here’s some tips on staying hydrated:

1. Access: you can only drink water if you have access to water. Best way to ensure you do? Bring it with you everywhere you go.

2. Invest: to help with tip 1, invest in reusable water bottle (or 5). I find that one with a straw makes it easier to drink (because unscrewing a top can be such a hassle).  Also, I’m a sucker for cute water bottles.

3. Add Flavor: no, I am not suggesting adding processed packets of sugar to your water.  Instead, add fruit.  Slice it up, toss it in, and voila! You have sassier, classier water.

4. Routine: if you haven’t been able to tell yet, I like routine.  Add water to yours.  When you pour your morning cup of coffee, also pour a glass of water.  Eating a meal? Wash it down with aqua. Prepping for a workout? Hydrate! Heading to bed? Not before that final glass of water is consumed…

So, here’s the challenge: drink more water. Drink it with breakfast, lunch, dinner and every snack in between.  Fill your water bottle up four+ times a day. Chug. Chug. Chug.

Happy Hydrating!
